The course develops your confidence in creative thinking which enables you to expand your ideas and techniques to produce a wonderful variety of exciting and original final outcomes. Observations and critical studies of artists, fashion designers and craft practitioners form a vital role in enriching your understanding of the creative world.

Textiles Department Staff
  • Mrs Lorna Crispin - Head of Department
Mrs Crispin's early career began as an artist-in-residence at Heathfield School, teaching Art and Design and developing her own design business in silk textiles, lingerie and bridal wear which she ran for 10 years. During this time she exhibited work at many design shows including Chelsea Crafts Show, she ran workshops for adults in Further Education and gave talks to The Embroiderer’s Guild. Her passion to teach and inspire the next generation led her to St Catherine’s as a part-time teacher in 1998. She is proud to have helped develop the Textiles at St Catherine's into a vibrant and creative subject.

  • Mrs Sarah Noy
Mrs Noy began her career working for Zandra Rhodes, and then as a fashion buyer for two major retail companies. Ran her own interior design company on a part-time basis, whilst teaching adults at Further Education. She embarked on a PGCE several years ago as she found that teaching was so addictive!! Her passion is fabrics, colour and texture. She also finds that watching a student’s tentative idea evolve into a stunning art form is something that, as a teacher, she never tires of! Mrs Noy enjoys the great outdoors and can be regularly seen at Lasham and at Bronze Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. Outside school, she still takes an interest in interior design projects, loves her garden, and has a go at most sports!
