  • Annabelle Blake
An LTA CCA coach and SRA Advanced coach, I have coached tennis and squash at St Catherine's for many years and encourage over 200 girls a week to play tennis and squash throughout the year. I coach team players in all year groups and many have enjoyed success at various tournaments that take place in the Summer Term.  On the tennis court, I encourage the girls to be consistent but to experiment and develop their all-court game.  On the squash court, I enjoy making the pupils run although some of them prefer the hard-hitting game but whichever strategy one enjoys, it is always necessary to take fitness seriously.  On that point, in my free time, I enjoy going to the gym for circuits, boot camps, kettlebells, spin and yoga.  In the winter holidays, I enjoy skiing and in the summer, hiking and swimming in the sea.
A licensed coach, I keep up-to-date with modern coaching trends; in addition to attending regular courses, most recently with Judy Murray and Sven Groeneveld,  the internet also provides a key area of research in both tennis and squash coaching. I am actively involved in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme at St Catherine's, helping the girls achieve their physical section, as well as being a supervisor and assessor on the expeditions.
  • Laura Cox
Laura Cox: I am the Head of Netball at St Catherine’s and a fully fledged member of the mighty Stoner House; I am absolutely loving every minute of it!  Alongside my pastoral commitments I am a lead teacher of A level PE and to support this, I am a specialist marker for the OCR exam board for A level Sports Psychology.  I also co-ordinate the St Catherine’s Sports Volunteers programme and in the summer term, I am Head of Athletics, which I love!
Until recently I was Assistant Coach for the ‘Netball South’ francise, as part of the National Performance Foundation League, and after a short break to complete my Level 3 in netball coaching this year, I hope to find another similar elite coaching position which will feed into my work at St Catherine’s.
Outside of work I am a season ticket holder at Surrey Storm and love watching these games and pretty much any live sport!  I also play on the staff netball team and we are currently top of the local league. Whilst my sporting life keeps me incredibly busy, my goal for next year is to finally get a dog of my own and train it into a super-pup!
