Charity Events

Merriman has always had very close links with children's organisations. Since 1989 Save the Children has been our main charity.  In 1997 Merriman house felt very proud to be awarded the very special Princess Anne Award for collecting over £ 3,000.  Our famous methods of fund-raising are: our annual Christmas Fair extravaganza, the collection from our House Communion Service and selling ice-cream during the summer term.

The photo shows our House Captains with Alex Lines Scrase who came along to a house meeting in June to collect the cheque for £1,568 that Merriman raised through the year.  The house was given us a 2ft Paddington Bear signed by Davina McCall, (who suppoted our 125th Anniversary charity "Medical Research).

Last year we have raised a total of £2,014,12, which has been donated to:

  • Save the Children
  • Street Kids
  • Oxfam
  • Chase

In our 125th school anniversary year, Merriman House will be supporting our celebrity patron is Davina McCall, best known for presenting reality TV show Big Brother.

Davina attended St Cats from age 5-13 and lived with her grandmother in Bramley. Her grandmother was the Regional Organiser for Action Medical Research.

The aims of the charity are to:
